The RACE for and AGAINST WORLD PEACE !

There seems to me to be something mythical about world peace. It seems like a thing that cannot or can never be attained. I get this feeling that every step mankind takes towards it, he takes twice that number away from it.

Just like I mentioned in an earlier piece, one of the main reasons why peace is so elusive is the fact that there is a drought of what the word in all its intricacies means.

We generally just assume that the absence of gun fights indicates peace when wars can actually be fought without using any physical weapons and yet great devastation(s) can be wrought on nations and peoples.

I mentioned in a previous piece that though many Nations talk about bilateral relations and international cooperation, if one looks carefully and beyond the words and the photo ops, you would find that most of these nations are at daggers drawn and there is a lot of bickering and grumbling and tit for tat-ing gone on behind the scenes. Do all these acts therefore give any indication of real and actual peace? My guess is that you answered "NO".

When rich nations loan money(ies) to poor nations but insist that the money(ies) must be spent on programs that would benefit the lender rather than the borrower, can you call that a peaceful transaction.

Big nations and rich nations imposing their wills on small and poor nations is hardly a peaceful situation.

When nations incite wars in another nation so as to exploit such a nation, raping it of its resources whilst paying for such resources with ample supply of weapons (and at the same time supplying the so-called rebels or freedom fighters with same or similar calibre of weapons) for use by the military of such a Nation cannot be innocent of the blood of women, and children that fall by the gun in these third world nations.

We see daily the political maneuvering thats taking place, we may not understand what has been going on behind the scenes but we can read from the daily going ons that big powers are at work trying to reshape the geopolitical atmosphere especially on the African continent and in the Arabian Peninsulas.
